WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The US embassy in Tokyo is warning about protests near the diplomatic compound on Saturday and Tuesday to mark the anniversaries of Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings in World War II, according to a security message issued on Friday.
"On Saturday, August 6 and Tuesday, August 9 between approximately 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM, demonstrations are expected at the US Embassy and surrounding areas," the embassy stated.

The US authorities explained that during annual demonstrations Japanese protestors drive around the embassy in some 100-200 vehicles.
In 1945, the United States dropped two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, on August 6 and 9 respectively. The bombing in Hiroshima killed about 150,000 people, and the raid on Nagasaki claimed the lives of some 70,000 people. The bombings caused Japan to surrender on August 15, bringing World War II to an end.
