OSCE Sends Patrol to Site of Attempted Assassination of Lugansk Head
The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) sent a patrol to the place where blast hit the car of Igor Plotnitsky, the head of the self-proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic, according to the head of the OSCE press service.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) sent a patrol on Saturday to the scene of an attempted assassination of Igor Plotnitsky, the head of the self-proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic, the head of the OSCE press service said.
Plotnitsky's car was hit by a blast earlier in the day. He sustained non-life threatening injuries.
The OSCE sent the patrol in the morning, Alexandra Taylor told RIA Novosti.
According to Taylor, the OSCE is preparing a report on the incident, which will be published in the near future.
The eastern Ukrainian regions of Lugansk and Donetsk do not acknowledge the legitimacy of a government in Kiev that came to power after a February 2014 coup in Ukraine. The new Kiev regime launched a military operation against eastern Ukraine in April 2014 but failed to regain control over the breakaway territories.
