Titov's epic spaceflight began on August 6 and lasted for 25 hours as his Vostok-2 spacecraft performed 17 orbits around the Earth, traversing a distance of approximately 700,000 kilometers.
During the mission, Titov ate, filmed Earth and even became the first man to sleep in space.
Aged 25 at the time of his flight, Titov became the youngest-ever person to take part in a space voyage.
