ST. PETERSBURG (Sputnik) — Russia has submitted an appeal against the suspension of its para athletes from the Rio 2016 Games by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), the president of Federation of Physical Culture and Sport for Persons with Physical Disabilities of Russia said on Sunday.
"We have just lodged an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). It will be considered in accordance with the established procedure. This is all Mr. Craven's black PR," Lev Seleznev told R-Sport.
In July, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) urged IPC to suspend Russian Paralympic team from the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro following a report of the WADA independent commission led by Canadian lawyer Richard McLaren, alleging that Russia had run a state-controlled doping program.
The 2016 Paralympics are scheduled to be held in Rio on September 7-18.
