BAKU (Sputnik) — The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) is interested in cooperation with Iran, Russia in their parts of the Caspian Sea, Azeri President Ilham Aliyev said Monday.
"The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic SOCAR is interested in participating in the works carried out in the Iranian and Russian sectors of the Caspian Sea. The trilateral format will create good opportunities to raise our economic cooperation to a higher level," Aliyev said at the trilateral meeting between presidents of Azerbaijan, Iran and Russia.
He added that Iranian and Russian companies have been engaged in the development of oil and gas fields in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea and made large investments for 20 years already.
