MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier discussed the current situation in crisis-hit eastern Ukraine and war-torn Syria in a phone call on Tuesday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
"The sides continued discussion of urgent issues related to progress in the implementation of Minsk accords…and stressed the need to synchronize steps aimed at the political settlement of the crisis in eastern Ukraine with resolution of security issues," the ministry said in a statement.
"The ministers also exchanged opinions on the development of the situation in Syria stressing the importance of the resumption of inclusive dialogue between the government and opposition in the framework of the Geneva process, as well as the efforts to increase effectiveness of the fight against terrorist and extremist groups in that country…," the statement said.
