US to Continue Airstrikes Against Daesh in Libya's Sirte - Prime Minister
08:14 GMT 09.08.2016 (Updated: 11:07 GMT 06.08.2022) The US Air Force will continue striking Daesh targets in Libya's Sirte, supporting the country's army, Prime Minister of the Libyan Government of National Accord Fayez Sarraj told Sputnik.
TRIPOLI (Sputnik) — According to the prime minister, the Libyan army has achieved significant success in the fight against Daesh (banned in Russia).
"US airstrikes are limited to Daesh strongholds within Sirte and its surroundings, and will continue for a certain period of time," Sarraj said.
The prime minister also noted that he could visit Russia in the near future.
"We have good relations with Russia, we strive for cooperation in various fields," Sarraj told Sputnik in an interview, adding that he had held a meeting with Russia's ambassador to Libya.
"Recently, a group of high-ranking Libyan officials visited Russia. I could visit Russia in the near future," he said.
