MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The president noted that he expects documents for the plant’s third stage to be signed later this year.
“Putting into the designed capacity of the first – and in the near future, the second – unit will significantly enhance India’s energy supply and strengthen its economic position,” Putin said via video linkup at a ceremony commemorating the final handover of the plant’s first unit.
He highlighted the role of nuclear energy cooperation as a key component of a privileged strategic partnership between Russia and India, and provided a timeline for Kudankulam’s next construction stages.
“We expect that a general framework agreement and a credit report for the construction of the third stage will be signed before the end of the year,” Putin said.
