The US-led coalition against Daesh carried out 25 airstrikes against the terror group's positions in Syria and Iraq on Tuesday, the Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve said in a press release.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The US-led coalition of more than 60 nations has been conducting anti-Daesh airstrikes in Syria and Iraq since 2014.

"In Syria, coalition military conducted 14 strikes using attack, bomber, fighter and remotely piloted aircraft against ISIL (Daesh) targets," the release stated on Wednesday. "Additionally in Iraq, coalition military forces conducted 11 strikes coordinated with and in support of the Government of Iraq."

In Syria, the airstrikes destroyed Daesh fighting positions, tactical units, crude oil collection points and vehicles near four towns, including Manbij, according to the release.

In Iraq, the airstrikes struck Daesh targets near six towns, including Mosul and Ramadi, destroying rocket caches, rocket rails, refueling points, tankers, generators, fighting positions, as well as denying Daesh access to terrain near Qayyarah.

Daesh is outlawed in the United States, Russia and numerous other countries.
