MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) said Thursday it imposed a $6.7-million fine on Google for violations in the mobile application market.
“Google's penalty for violating antitrust laws amounts to 438 million rubles. We hope that the company will comply with our decision and pay the penalty in the near future,” FAS Deputy Head Alexei Dotsenko told reporters.
Last September, FAS found the US tech giant in violation of a number of Russia’s anti-monopoly laws, including abuse of dominance on the pre-installed Android software applications market.
In March, the Russian court ruled in favor of the antitrust agency.
"Google must pay the fine within 60 days after the order enters into force," a spokeswoman for the Antimonopoly Service told RIA Novosti.
"Despite a decision to impose a fine, an agreement with Google is still being discussed," she noted.
