MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russia and Iran are currently not discussing fully lifting the visa regime between the two countries, Russian Ambassador to Iran Levan Dzhagaryan said.
"During Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Tehran in November 2015, a bilateral intergovernmental agreement on easing conditions for mutual travel for certain groups of Russian and Iranian citizens was among the bilateral documents that were signed. Thus, a simplified visa regime is already in place for entrepreneurs, members of official delegations, persons participating in scientific, cultural and artistic activities, as well as in university-organized and other educational activities. There are no talks so far on abolishing the visa regime," Dzhagaryan told RIA Novosti.
