WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — US forces killed Afghanistan’s Daesh leader Hafiz Sayed Khan in an airstrike in the country’s eastern Nangarhar province on July 26, US Department of Defense Deputy Press Secretary Gordon Trowbridge said in a statement.
"US forces conducted an airstrike targeting Hafiz Sayed Khan, the Islamic State in the Levant-Khorasan emir, in Achin district, Nangarhar province July 26, resulting in his death," Trowbridge stated on Friday.
