MONTEVIDEO (Sputnik) — Former Cuban President Fidel Castro called on Saturday to strive for preserving peace and avoid posing threats to Russia and China, Granma, the official newspaper of the Cuban Communist Party, said.
"Such great countries as Russia, China, should not face threats, which could force them to use nuclear weapons. These are nations of great courage and intelligence….It is important to tirelessly talk about the necessity to preserve peace," Castro's article published on Granma reads.
Former Cuban leader also slammed US President Barack Obama for not apologizing for US bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War II, which killed thousands of people, during his visit to Japan.
Castro gave up his presidential position in 2008 after a serious illness and his brother, Raul Castro, became next president.
