Terrorists Severely Damage Major Power Plant in Syria’s Hama Province
15:22 GMT 14.08.2016 (Updated: 11:57 GMT 13.04.2024) Al-Zara power plant, which is one of the major power plants in war-torn Syria, was damaged by shelling carried out by the Daesh and Jabhat Fatah al Sham (formerly known as Nusra Front) terrorists, according to local media.
ALEPPO (Sputnik) — The shelling carried out by jihadists of the Islamic State (ISIL or Daesh) and Jabhat Fatah al Sham (formerly known as Nusra Front) groups in the Syrian western-central province of Hama critically damaged the Al-Zara power plant, local media reported Sunday.
According to the Al-Alam broadcaster, terrorists outlawed in Russia and many other countries almost destroyed several units of the power station.

Al-Zara is one of the major power plants in war-torn Syria that provides electricity not only to Hama, but also to neighboring provinces.
Jihadists have previously targeted the power plant in March, knocking out several generators.
Syria has been mired in civil war since 2011, with government forces loyal to President Bashar Assad fighting numerous opposition factions and extremist groups.
