RIO DE JANEIRO (Sputnik) – The Summer Olympic Games are being held in Rio de Janeiro from August 5 until August 21. The Olympic Village opened on July 24.
"We have done 2,701 urine samples, 191 blood samples, 296 biological passports: 3,188 altogether," Richard Budgett told reporters on Monday as quoted by Yahoo Sports. He added that more than 4,000 tests overall were expected to be taken by the end of the games.
Budgett said that as part of the reanalyses program launched by the IOC back in October 2015 on the samples from Beijing 2008 and London 2012, 98 samples tested positive. They are not linked to the tests currently being conducted in Rio.
"About 1,400 samples were reanalysed from Beijing and London, resulting in 98 adverse sample findings," Budgett pointed out.
