MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The IPC suspended Russia’s membership in early August citing alleged failure to comply with the organization’s anti-doping rules.
"The appeal will be heard by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Sunday, 21 August and a final decision will be announced by CAS by midnight CEST on Monday, 22 August," IPC’s statement read.
The international organization said it had been notified about the appeal by the Russian Paralympic Committee. Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) chief Alexander Zhukov said last week that Russian Paralympic athletes deserved to take part in the ongoing Rio games as most of them were clean.
