Ukrainian Security Service (SSU) staff searched the home of Ukrainian journalist Miroslava Berdnik for three hours prior to detaining her on Tuesday, her daughter told Sputnik.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to Irina Bessmertnaya, Berdnik left home early on Tuesday but had to return after she met SSU officers in the street, who accompanied her to her apartment.

“I don’t remember the exact number of them but there were more than three [SSU members]. They behaved properly. Read out the court order for the search in connection with some criminal case, but … I do not remember what case it was. The searches lasted three hours,” Bessmertnaya told Sputnik.

According to her, the SSU confiscated Berdnik’s computer, cell phone, USB flash drive and a brochure about the Great Patriotic War.

“I am currently at a SSU facility. They are still interrogating my mother, I will be next,” she said.

Berdnik, who is also a blogger, is a well know critic of the situation that has unraveled in Ukraine since the 2014 Maidan protests. She is also a stark opponent of Ukrainian nationalism.
