A court hearing for Russian appeal against the suspension of its International Paralympic Committee (IPC) membership and a blanket ban for its athletes was pushed back to August 22, the Russian Paralympic authority said Tuesday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) was due to hear the case on Sunday and release its ruling the next morning.

"CAS advised that Hearing to be held in Rio de Janeiro at 9.00 local time [12:00 GMT] on 22 August 2016," the Russian Paralympic Committee cited its Executive Committee Chairman Pavel Rozhkov as saying.

The judgment will be released early next Tuesday, August 23, the Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC) said, adding that the appeal was in line with an Arbitration Agreement, which was signed between the RPC and the IPC.

On August 7, the IPC announced it had suspended the membership of the Russian Paralympic Committee and barred Russian Paralympians from taking part in the ongoing Rio Games, citing alleged failure to comply with the organization’s anti-doping regulations.
