MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to Anadolu news agency, Istanbul Security Directorate for Combating Financial Crime Branch teams conduct operations in the companies, which allegedly provide financial support to the FETO, whose leader is accused by Ankara of being the mastermind behind the recent military coup attempt.
On July 15, the Turkish authorities said that an attempted coup was taking place in the country, which was suppressed the next day. Over 13,000 people have been detained in connection with the coup. Ankara believes that US-based Islamic cleric Gulen and his supporters were seeking to overthrow the current government. The FETO is designated a terrorist organization by Ankara.
Gulen, who has been living in the US state of Pennsylvania since 1999, has denied the allegations and condemned the attempted coup.
