MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The businessman named conservative news website Breitbart News Executive Chairman Stephen Bannon campaign CEO and Republican strategist and pollster Kellyanne Conway campaign manager, local media said Wednesday.
"It’s an expansion at a busy time in the final stretch of the campaign," Conway said after confirming the new appointments, The New York Times newspaper reported.
Trump left Paul Manafort as campaign chairman and Mike Pence as his running mate.
Manafort has recently been accused of previously accepting millions of dollars in off-the-books payments from deposed Ukrainian President Victor Yanukovych's Party of Regions while working as an adviser to the former head of state.
Trump's second overhaul in two months comes after his rival Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton surged ahead in national polls. On Tuesday, the NBC/Survey Monkey Weekly Election Tracking Poll indicated that Clinton leads Trump by 9 percentage points, with 50 percent of respondents supporting Clinton and 41 intending to vote for Trump.
The US presidential election is scheduled to take place on November 8.
