Former co-owner of defunct Yukos oil producer, Leonid Nevzlin, charged in Russia in absentia with life sentence for murder of Nefteyugansk mayor Vladimir Petukhov, said on Thursday he received a note from the Interpol stating that he is not on the wanted list anymore.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — In 2006, Yukos was declared bankrupt by Moscow's Court of Arbitration. State-run Rosneft subsequently purchased about 80 percent of the company's assets.

"Me and my lawyers have received documents from the Interpol, around 9-10 pages, which notify that I was removed from the Interpol database, with a 'red warrant' or any other. I am no longer there," Nevzlin told RIA Novosti.

He added that the note explained how Interpol had come to conclusion that his case a political one and therefore must be dropped.
