WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Earlier on Thursday, DOH announced that two more infected individuals have been registered in Miami-Dade County bringing the total number of cases in the area to 35.
"I have directed DBPR to work closely with hotels, attractions and restaurants [in the area] to connect them with resources for Zika prevention," Scott stated on Thursday. "I have also directed DOH to work with DBPR to provide educational materials and offer mosquito spraying at no cost to these businesses."
Florida’s $67 billion travel industry has a large impact on the state’s economy, surpassing agriculture and construction, according to the state’s official web site.
"Tourism is a driving force of Florida’s economy and [it] has the full support of our state in the fight against the Zika virus," Scott added.
