MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The list of disqualified athletes includes:
Anastasia Kapachinskaya, who competed in the women’s 400m and 4x400m relay events, in which she ranked 5th and 2nd with her teammates.
"Re-analysis of Kapachinskaya’s samples from Beijing 2008 resulted in a positive test for the prohibited substances stanozolol and dehydrochlormethyltestosterone (turinabol)," the IOC said in statement.
In addition, the Russian team has been disqualified from the women’s 4x400m relay. "The corresponding medals and diplomas are withdrawn and shall be returned," the statement said.
Alexander Pogorelov, who competed in the decathlon event, in which he ranked 4th.
"Re-analysis of Pogorelov’s samples from Beijing 2008 resulted in a positive test for the prohibited substance dehydrochlormethyltestosterone (turinabol)," according to the statement.
Ivan Yushkov, who competed in shot put event, in which he ranked 10th.
"Reanalysis of Yushkov’s samples from Beijing 2008 resulted in a positive test for the prohibited substances stanozolol, oxandrolone and dehydrochlormethyltestosterone (turinabol)," according to the statement.
The IOC said the decisions enter into force immediately and the Russian Olympic Committee must ensure their full implementation.
