US Runner Chelimo Keeps Silver in 5,000m Race After Brief Disqualification
US racer Paul Chelimo was allowed to keep his Rio 5,000m silver after being briefly disqualified for breaking a rule on Saturday, the US Track and Field (USATF) governing body said.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Kenyan-born sprinter came second in 13 minutes 03.90 seconds after Mo Farah of Britain, who ran 13 minutes 03.30 seconds.
He was disqualified for infringing the inside border in the final stage of the Olympic race but quickly appealed and was soon reinstated, according to the SB Nation sports news website.
