MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The pilots of the MiG-29SMT fighters from a military unit in Russia's western Kursk Region are expected to conduct drills from an airfield near St. Petersburg, the press service of the Western Military District said Monday.
"During the exercises, the pilots will complete the tasks of preparing the aircraft for flights, taking off in groups and one by one, engaging in fights with the use of missiles and guns, as well as hitting ground targets," the press service said.
During the drills, the pilots are expected to upgrade their skills on working over unknown terrain.
The exercises will run for a week. About 50 servicemen are partaking in the drills, in which six MiG-29SMT aircraft are involved.
