Russia May File Lawsuit With ECHR Over Paralympics Ban - Senator
MOSCOW (Sputnik) CAS upheld the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) chief’s August 7 suspension of Russian paralympians from the September 7-18 games earlier in the day.

"The State Duma committee is engaged in the study of all possible options to respond to the current situation. We are in consultation with the International Olympic Committee [IOC], the Ministry of Sports, with our Paralympic Committee," Dmitry Svishchev told RIA Novosti.

Svishchev, the head of the Russian State Duma committee on physical culture, sport and youth affairs, elaborated that the response may come in the form of a note of protest, letters or appeals.

"Most importantly, this situation should not go unnoticed," the senior lawmaker said.

The doping scandal, simmering since 2014, escalated in July when an independent World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) commission presented a report accusing Russia of running a state-wide doping program and urging the IOC to consider a blanket ban on the entire Russian team.

The WADA McLaren report claimed that 35 of so-called disappearing positive test results have been allegedly found in Paralympic sport.
