MOSCOW (Sputnik) – CAS upheld International Paralympic Committee (IPC) chief Philip Craven’s August 7 suspension of Russian athletes from the September 7-18 Paralympics earlier in the day, dismissing Russia’s August 15 appeal.
"This is absolutely not a legal decision… I do not see any grounds for such a decision, but it has been made," Mutko told R-Sport.
The minister stressed that Russia's response measures should be devised following the CAS’ publication of its full award with the grounds within the next days.
"The meaning and motive is not clear, it is necessary to read what they rely on in the decision," Mutko said.
He further kept open the possibility of holding non-Paralympic games compliant with international standards, citing the Russian paralympians’ peak form.
