WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Lockheed Martin has received a contract worth more than seven million dollars to supply the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with ground components for the US-supplied Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system, the Department of Defense said in a press release.
“Lockheed Martin Corporation [of] Sunnyvale, California, is being awarded a $7.7 million modification… contract for the UAE THAAD ground components under… Foreign Military Sales,” the release stated on Thursday.
The latest deal boosted the value of Lockheed Martin’s overall THAAD contracts with the UAE from $407 million to $415 million, the release noted.
The US military has already deployed the THAAD system in other high tension, potential conflict zones in the South China Sea, Eastern Europe and South Korea.
