Russia to Showcase Advanced Military Equipment at Army-2016 Tech Forum

Advanced military technologies and equipment developed by Russian defense industry enterprises will be displayed at the upcoming Army-2016 international military and technical forum to be held near Moscow, the head of the Russian Defense Ministry's scientific research directorate, Alexander Mironov, said Thursday.

MOSCOW REGION (Sputnik) — The event will have a range of specialized exhibits, including one dedicated to military equipment designed for use in the Arctic and one comprising over 100 enterprises working in the high-tech defense equipment sector, he added.

"In the dynamic part of the forum, the running and firing capabilities of armaments, military and special equipment from Defense Ministry arsenals will be showcased by defense industry enterprises, as well as demonstrations by aerobatic teams from Russia's Aerospace Forces and airborne troops," Mironov said during a meeting with military attaches from over 50 European, Middle Eastern, African and Asian countries.

The forum, which is set to take place on September 6-11 in Kubinka, a western suburb of Moscow, will bring together representatives from the Russian defense industry, research institutes, universities, as well as foreign companies. Over 800 Russian and foreign participants will mount some 7,000 exhibitions throughout the week. The forum's participants and guests will attend a number of conferences and round-table discussions to discuss the future development of military technology.

The Army-2015 forum attracted over 800 exhibitors and over 200,000 visitors from 73 countries, as well as official delegations from 38 countries.
