MOSCOW (Sputnik) – On Tuesday, the CAS upheld the IPC’s August 7 ruling to suspend Russian paralympians from the upcoming Summer Games in Rio, thus dismissing Russia’s August 15 appeal.
“There will be a lawsuit with the federal court in Switzerland. Individual claims are under consideration,” Mutko said at a ceremony awarding Russian athletes.
“The issue about chances is complex. CAS' decisions are not based entirely on the principles of law. It is unclear how to deal with this. The McLren report mentioned 35 [positive doping tests], 20 of them turned out to be not ours. This is absolutely a political decision,” Mutko reiterated.
Alexey Karpenko, the attorney representing Russia in the case, estimates the appeal against Russia's blanket ban could take up to two years.
