VILNIUS (Sputnik) — A LOT Polish Airlines passenger plane on Friday made an emergency landing at Lithuania's Vilnius Airport with 70 people on board with no injuries reported, Agne Mazeikyte, a spokeswoman for the airport, said Friday.
"I confirm that a LOT Polish airline company Bombardier Dash 8 plane made an emergency landing with several minor damages at the Vilnius Airport with 70 passengers on board. None of the 70 passengers were hurt. We have received information that there was a minor malfunction on the plane," Mazeikyte told RIA Novosti.
The Polish flag carrier plane was en route from Warsaw to Vilnius and had to circle above the Lithuanian capital until its fuel ran out for safety purposes before making the landing, she added.
Earlier in the day, the Baltic Delfi news website reported that the plane was unable to open its wing flaps, which act as breaks, and had to land at high speed.
