A-Level UK Student Gets 7 Years in Jail for Helping Friend Join Jihadists
14:57 GMT 26.08.2016 (Updated: 15:02 GMT 26.08.2016) A 20-year-old A-level student in the United Kingdom, Abdullahi Ahmed Jama Farah, was sentenced on Friday to seven years in jail for helping his friend leave for Syria.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The man from Manchester of Danish and Somali origin was found guilty of preparing terrorism acts by helping Nur Hassan, 19, join jihadists in Syria, the ITV news channel said.
Jama Farah is said to have created a “hub of communication” with other supporters of the Desh jihadist group, which is outlawed in Russia and many other states.
According to prosecutors, evidence of Jama Farah’s links to Daesh jihadists was found on his computers as well as in his messages on WhatsApp and social media. The evidence included a special terrorist slang used in his messages.
His defense team describing him as an over-excited man, who sat at home communicating with his friends.
Jama Farah is a cousin of Zhara and Salma Halane, known as “terror twins,” who left Manchester in 2014 and allegedly married Daesh jihadists.
