Both Prime Minister Modi and Myanmar’s President discussed the issue of border management and ways to contain the militancy and insurgency along the India-Myanmar border. India and Myanmar share around 1,600 km long border which is marred with insurgency. India’s main concern is the presence of insurgent groups along the border and government wants a proactive support from the Myanmar.

U Htin Kyaw’s visit is significant in the sense that India is giving much more focus to its relations with Myanmar as a gateway to South-East Asia in terms of trade and connectivity.
