MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The Russian Defense Ministry has invited foreign defense attaches to attend the active stage of command-and-staff exercises dubbed "Kavkaz-2016" on September 9, Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov said Monday.
"In the spirit of goodwill and transparency in the activities of the Russian Armed Forces, the Russian Ministry of Defense invited foreign military attaches accredited in Moscow to visit on September 9, 2016, the active phase of ‘Kavkaz-2016’ the strategic command-staff exercises," Antonov told reporters.
Antonov said the foreign defense officials would be briefed on the aims and tasks of the drills, adding that the August 25-31 snap combat readiness inspections are the final phase in preparations for the Kavkaz-2016 exercises.
