MOSCOW (Sputnik) As stated by the Kenyan and global human rights organizations, more than 300 individuals have gone missing when in the hands of security agencies since 2009. Some of them have later been found dead.

"Enforced disappearances have become a widespread practice, and a dark stain on the fabric of law enforcement in Kenya that can only be sustainably addressed by bringing to account those suspected of responsibility through fair trials," Peter Kiama, the executive director of the Independent Medico-Legal Unit (IMLU), was quoted as saying by Amnesty International.

Many of the killings have been committed as part of the Kenyan government's operations against alleged members and supporters of the al-Qaeda affiliated militant group Al-Shabaab responsible for numerous terror attacks in East Africa.
