The Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport in Abu Dhabi announced on Monday that 182 parking bays had been reserved exclusively for lady drivers. The parking bays are fitted with signs and sidewalks painted pink and white; they are designed to assist women who are searching for parking spaces and protect their privacy.
Parking inspectors will ensure that the spots are not used by male drivers. Offenders will be fined for illegal parking and their vehicles will be towed away.
Over time, the number of such women-only parking bays will increase along with their capacity, the municipality stated.
