Relaunching of Turkish Stream Pipeline Project to Be Discussed - Gazprom
ANKARA (Sputnik) – A delegation from the Russian gas company Gazprom and the Turkish energy minister held talks in Istanbul on restarting the Turkish Stream gas pipeline project, Turkey’s Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources spokesman said Wednesday.

"Gazprom CEO [Alexei Miller] met one on one with our minister [Berat Albayrak]. The Turkish Stream project, as well as arbitration over gas discounts and regional energy issues, were under discussion," ministry spokesman Mehmet Ali Berber told RIA Novosti.

Berber said Miller is currently meeting with Turkey’s state-owned Botas energy company.

Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said this month that Moscow was willing to discuss a lower price for natural gas deliveries to Turkey. The comment came after President Vladimir Putin hosted his Turkish counterpart in St. Petersburg for the first meeting to restart diplomatic relations after Turkey downed a Russian jet last fall.

By the end of 2015, Russian gas accounted for about 50 percent of Turkey's total gas imports. In March, Turkish gas importer Enerco Enerji said that Russia’s energy giant Gazprom had canceled a 10.25-percent price discount. Gazprom said the dispute was settled in April.
