The ceasefire agreement between self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics in eastern Ukraine and the Kiev authorities comes into force at midnight August 31.
"We are hoping that the implementation of this agreement by all sides of the conflict…will allow to make a progress in the implementation of the Minks complex of measures and intensify joint efforts in search of compromises on all aspects of a peaceful resolution of the crisis in Ukraine," Peskov told reporters.
Peskov stressed that Moscow was expecting Kiev to back the ceasefire with concrete steps in drafting and adopting laws on a special status of DPR and LPR, as well as on amnesty and local elections in Donbas.
"We are calling on the OSCW Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine to provide the necessary assistance to the implementation of the ceasefire agreement in line with its current mandate," he added.
