"Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi on Tuesday evening expressed concern over the continuation of the Turkish military operation in Syria," the ministry's statement reads.
They continued Turkish presence on Syrian soil will lead to further complication of the situation in the region, the statement cited Qassemi as saying.
"The official said that adopting approaches that defy the political authority of a country's central government is not acceptable," the statement continued.
On August 24, Ankara announced that Turkish forces, backed by US-led coalition aircraft, had begun a military operation dubbed Euphrates Shield to clear the city of Jarabulus of Daesh (outlawed in Russia) fighters. Syrian Kurds and Damascus accused Ankara of violating the territorial integrity of the country.
