Pursuant to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s instructions, a Rosneft-Gazprombank joint venture, Modern Shipbuilding Technologies, is creating a Far Eastern industrial and shipbuilding cluster at the Far Eastern Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Center.
Its centerpiece will be the Zvezda Shipyard in the city of Bolshoi Kamen.
“On the sidelines of your talks with the South Korean president on September 3, a designing and engineering supervision contract will be signed with Hyundai to build the world’s first Green Aframax-class tankers burning natural-gas-based motor fuel at the Zvezda Shipyard,” Sechin told President Putin, who was attending the ceremony, adding that Hyundai would contribute the tanker design to the charter capital of its joint venture with Zvezda.
