Curfew was re-imposed in Kashmir after fresh violence erupted between security personnel and protestors. Over 100 people have been injured in clashes with security personnel in last 24 hours.

There is a conflicting view about an incident where four boys jumped into the Jhelum river after security personnel allegedly chased them in Parimpora. The dead body of Danish Sultan Haroo, aged 12, was retrieved from the river. Police personnel denied allegations that forces chased a group of boys while local legislator Mubarak Gul told local media that forces actually chased the group of boys in Parimpora locality.

Even the Member of Parliament building was attacked by protesters on Thursday. Violent protesters forced MP Nazir Ahmad’s security personnel to abandon their guard posts immediately.

The situation is getting worse once again just before an All Party delegation visit to Kashmir which is scheduled on September 4.

Some of the Muslim opposition leaders within the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir who want independence from India have asked people to support the extended shut down program  till September 8. They have asked people to occupy Srinagar Airport where all party delegations led by Rajnath Singh, India’s Minister for Home Affairs, are scheduled to arrive to find an amicable solution to the violent protest.

To date, 73 people have been killed and more than 9,000 have been injured in clashes between police and protesters. Protests began when a Hizbul Mujahideen militant, Burhan Wani, was killed by security personnel on July 8.
