MOSCOW (Sputnik) — He warned that the severe weather conditions on Saturday and throughout the Labor Day weekend were expected to cause power outages and impede transportation in the area.

Over 100,000 homes were left without electricity across Florida and two people reportedly lost their lives. Florida Gov. Rick Scott stressed on Saturday that communities needed electricity to begin recovering and this would be a top priority.

The US National Weather Service has warned that Hermine was gaining strength in the Atlantic. As it intensifies it is expected to slow and stall off the Mid-Atlantic coast starting on Sunday. But strong winds, dangerous storm surge and life-threatening surf remain the primary concerns.
