HANGZHOU (Sputnik) — Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with UK Prime Minister Theresa May that the United Kingdom, as well as other countries, was facing complex challenges, and expressed hope that bilateral relations between Moscow and London would come to a higher level in both political and economic spheres.
"I am very glad to meet with you in person and to congratulate you on your election as the UK prime minister. It is clear for everyone that you and your team are facing challenges, but we all face challenges. We wish you success and hope that we can take our bilateral relations to a higher level than they are today. Here, we definitely have a job to do in the political sphere, as well as in the economic sphere," Putin said at the bilateral meeting with May on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Hangzhou.
