MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On June 23, the United Kingdom held a referendum to determine whether or not the country should leave the European Union. According to the final results, 51.9 percent of voters, decided to support Brexit.
Then-Prime Minister and Remain campaign leader David Cameron resigned following the popular vote, and was succeeded by Former Home Secretary Theresa May.
"I think what is important, particularly having had the referendum vote, is that we have a period of stabilities. Challenge ahead in ensuring that we make a successive coming out of the European Union. I think it is important we focus on that… So, I don't think there is a need for an election, I think the next election will be in 2020," May told The BBC broadcaster in an interview.
