ALEPPO (Sputnik) — A double explosion took place at the entrance to the Syrian city of Tartus, local militia said Monday. Number of casualities reaches 30.
"Information has been received regarding a double explosion at the entrance to the city of Tartus, at a government road under the Arzuna bridge," a spokesperson told RIA Novosti.
Tartus, the capital of the Syrian province of the same name, has remained almost completely under government control since the onset of the conflict. As such, it has seen a large influx of internally displaced refugees escaping other regions which have been directly exposed to the ongoing struggle with Islamic militants.
