Israeli Prime Minister is considering Russia’s offer to hold Israeli-Palestinian summit, Netanyahu’s press service said Monday.

TEL AVIV (Sputnik) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is studying Russia’s offer to hold the first in several years Israeli-Palestinian summit and is ready in principle to hold direct talks without preconditions, Netanyahu’s press service said Monday.

"Netanyahu presented the Israeli position, which is that he is always ready for a direct meeting with [Palestinian leader] Mahmoud Abbas without preconditions. Therefore, he is examining the Russian proposal and the offered terms of a possible meeting," the statement reads.

The remarks came after Netanyahu’s meeting with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov in Jerusalem.

However, there is still no certainty regarding a possible meeting of Israeli and Palestinian leaders with Russian mediation, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Monday.
