"Hungary succeeds in defending its national interests, despite EU membership. It does not want to fall into the neo-colonial matrix, where it will be obliged to sacrifice itself for others. Hungary truly protects its own interests [with respect to] the issue of the migration crisis, but at the same time maintains good relations with the Russian Federation, despite pressure from the EU," the political analyst said.
"I think it's time for Serbia to adopt the Hungarian model of protecting the border from Middle East migrants," Andjelkovic stated.
According to the analyst, now that Budapest has established this psychological wall and imposed its position as predominant within the European Union, Serbia should apply its experience in order not to be packed up with migrants who want to get to Europe and cannot pass due to measures taken by Hungary.
"Hungarian experience and the assistance they offered us may be useful for our country. Hungary can become our advocate in protecting Serbia from the pressure of European centers of influence, which are potentially dissatisfied with the migration policy of Belgrade," Andjelkovic told Sputnik.
"We can learn a lot from them, including the development of external trade relations with non-EU countries, especially with Russia. The Hungarians have a well-adjusted model of cooperation in the agriculture industry and a well-organized presence on the Russian market," the expert said.
On September 5, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán held talks with his Serbian colleague Aleksandar Vučić in Belgrade. The Prime Ministers stressed that relations between the two countries are developing in all directions, and agreed on further cooperation on the issue of the migrant crisis.
