MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The United States and Laos signed a new Comprehensive Partnership deal on Tuesday in a bid to bolster bilateral ties, US President Barack Obama said at a press conference during his official visit to Laos.
"And that’s why today, the United States and Laos have agreed to a new Comprehensive Partnership to guide and deepen our relationship for years to come," the US leader said, adding that "the United States does not seek to impose our will on Laos."
According to Obama, the best way to deliver progress for people is through closer cooperation between countries, even when the governments have differences in their views.
