An Indian court has issued notices to Niantic Incorporated, maker of the popular location-based reality game Pokémon Go for hurting the religious sentiments of certain communities in India.

The court heard the petition filed by one Alay Anil Dave, who took objections to the image of eggs appearing in places of religious significance where the faithful were vegetarians.
The presence of non–vegetarian food is prohibited in many Indian temples and the petitioner felt that even the digital presence of eggs at religious places hurts their sentiments.

Earlier, while filing the petition in Gujarat High Court, the petitioner’s advocate told the local media that “to find eggs in the temples of Hindus and Jains is blasphemous, and therefore my client has sought a ban on the game from the country.”
