MOSCOW (Sputnik) – A delegation of Russian experts will travel to Egypt shortly to discuss the issue of restarting charter flights, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Wednesday.
"A Russian delegation of high-ranking experts will visit Egypt in the coming days for continuation of talks on this issue with the Egyptian colleagues," Peskov told reporters.
According to the official, both Moscow and Cairo are working actively on the issue.
In November 2015, Russia suspended passenger air traffic with Egypt due to security reasons after a bomb exploded on board of the Russian A321 plane en route from the resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh to St. Petersburg on October 31, 2015, killing all 224 passengers and crew members.
In July, Russian Transport Minister Maksim Sokolov met with his Egyptian counterpart Sherif Fathy who invited Russian experts to conduct the final inspection of security at Egyptian airports.
